Stock #413170 - A rare beauty that has been nicely maintained and upgraded, ready!Purchased out of Panama, this World Class Formosa is ready for Bluewaters again.There were only 14 Formosa New Horizon 68 sailboats ever built. At 70 feet long with a 17' 4" beam, she's a big beautiful Ketch. This Formosa has a centerboard keel, which makes her very versatile for taking her where you want to go. With the centerboard up, she has a 5' draft, which deepens to 11' with the keel fully deployed.... (read more) With 3 cabins and 3 heads, there are 2 showers and enough berths to sleep up to 10 passengers. There are 3 double berths and 4 single berths. The galley is well equipped to keep the crew fed, and the stove is run off propane. As part of the electronics package, you'll find an integrated Garmin system with 2 GPS-chartplotters, radar, wind gauge, depth gauge, and the Garmin Reactor 40 Smartpump Autopilot. A VHF radio with AIS is aboard for safety and communication. The seller reports that this Formosa at one time averaged around 12 knots for one of its lengthy trips. With an 84' mast, the sail inventory includes the Main, a Staysail, Mizzen Sail, and a newer Yankee sail. All halyards have been updated with Dyneema.There are 12 winches on board, 2 of which are electric. Per the seller, The Ford Lehman 150 Turbo engine runs very well and is ready for longer voyages. The seller does currently live aboard but is preparing the boat to disembark. He's put around $400k and 18 months of work to make the Formosa capable of traveling the world.This Formosa is now in Wrangell, Alaska. Built with a 3" thick hull, the Formosa New Horizon 68 was built with 3/4" Fiberglass on the exterior, with a layer of Airex foam sandwiched inside a 1/2" Fiberglass on the interior. The Seller added 1185 watts of Solar panels and 2 new 410AH house batteries, a new 8D engine battery and 3 different shunts, so you can monitor your systems via computer.
A lot of work and upgrades have gone into the boat over the last few years, especially in 2022. The Teak decks were recently shaved, sanded, and caulked. And, the bowsprit and pulpit were rebuilt in 2022. The masthead was also rebuilt and the standing rigging was replaced in 2022.
One Fuel tank was replaced with a 200-gallon Bladder, to increase the total fuel capacity to 325 Gallons.
Other items replaced in 2022 are bilge pumps, 2 macerator pumps, 1 Inflow pump, the water pressure pump, a shower sump pump, a bathroom sink and the galley sink.
There's a new dodger and bimini, both replaced in 2022, a new masthead in 2022 and the main mast was rewired in 2022. The boat was rewired with new components and electrical panels in 2019.
