During the restoration, over 100 new laminated Oak frame sections were installed, and the hull was refastened with silicon bronze fasteners. There are also some unique construction components for this boat, separating it from most boats of this vintage. One of the most significant are the 16 foot Galvanized Iron Shear Clamps port and starboard in way of the Chain Plates that provide strength and prevent hogging. The owner, who is an experienced vintage boat restorer, says there is zero hog on this boat, and he reports that, structurally, the refurbishment is 100% complete.
The laminated spruce mast was refurbished with the scarfs opened and new epoxy applied, then re-stepped. The owner indicates it is more waterproof than it has ever been.
The teak decks appear to be in very good condition, recently refurbished and sealed. The brightwork is also in very good condition with only minor touch-ups needed. The hull is shiny and bright following the restoration and refinishing.
The current owner added the wind turbine generator, solar power, and a watermaker.
The final touches on the restoration included the installation of stainless steel Genny Tracks (port and starboard), the 24 volt off-shore charging system, an LED anchor light, along with several other LED light upgrades. A Raytheon radar system, a depth sounder,
and a speed indicator were also installed at the previous haul-out. There is an original analog speed system that could be rebuilt.
The mainsail is a bit tired, and would be best used as a backup. The boom is solid, but could use some new paint. The owner confirms the engine runs strong, and was recently serviced. A GMC service manual is included. All winches have been refurbished by the current owner. Ask for Steve Smith.
